Whit A. Thomas
I grew up in Birmingham and began practicing law there in 1980 after graduation from Law School. I moved to Baldwin County and opened my Foley law office in 2004. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree Cum Laude from Tulane University in New Orleans and my Law Degree (JD) from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. My wife is a recently retired Baldwin County intermediate school librarian, and we have three grown children (two sons and a daughter) and two grandsons.
I specialize in personal injury law that includes mainly motor vehicle accident and premise liability (slip and fall) cases. I also evaluate other types of cases, including workplace and medical malpractice. Over the years, I have handled hundreds of cases for my clients with combined gross settlements in the millions. I am a member in good standing of the Alabama State Bar and the Baldwin County Bar Associations.
I believe that lawyers have a unique opportunity to insure that honest, hardworking people, who have been injured by another person’s careless behavior, be treated fairly by insurance companies and compensated for the physical, financial, and emotional damages that always accompany serious injuries from accidents.
Historically, lawyers, representing injured persons, have helped restore balance to a system that favors the big insurance companies. If we decide to work together to pursue your claim, you will never receive a bill from me. My attorney fee comes out of the jury’s verdict or the insurance company settlement after approval by my client.
There are many pitfalls in dealing directly with insurance companies following an accident. The law is often complicated and like the old saying goes, you don’t know what you don’t know. Most of my clients treat people fairly and expect to be treated fairly. However, insurance adjusters and claims representatives will not necessarily volunteer to help you through this process and may look for ways to deny your claim.
If you have been injured in an accident, please feel free to call me with any questions concerning your rights and obligations. I encourage you to talk to me before agreeing to give a recorded statement to the at-fault driver’s insurance claims representative. There is no cost or fee to talk to me about your accident. If we decide that we can work together, we will schedule an appointment to meet at my office at 307 South McKenzie Street, Suite 101, Foley, Alabama 36535 to review the paper work and get your case started.
